HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY

Happy Anniversary 100BOOKSproject!

Today marks our third birthday so we have taken some time to reflect on what we have achieved in the past 12 months.

Our focus this year was to get Ocean Warriors Plastic in Paradise “OUT THERE”.  And I’m happy to report that several hundred copies of the book are now in the hands of the children it was written for.  A special thanks to Bali Children Foundation for using the books in their programs (and to GaneshaBooks for facilitating this); to Two Llamas Environmental and Social projects for sponsoring and distributing two hundred copies of the book to fishing villages in Lombok; and to those of you who donated cash funds for us to purchase the book for kids in remote areas of Komodo + Raja Ampat.

Of course our other library projects continue to grow.  We have been able to deliver more books to existing collections as well as support 4 more projects.  Particular thanks to Wild Awake Travel and Whale Discoveries who facilitated a donation in a school on Nomuka Island in Tonga; to Kiana Poini and her classmates at Wingham Highschool whose cash donation purchased over 200 books for Child Aid Papua and their Ocean Warriors Education Program; to Books Up association who contributed to a donation we made to the Trash Hero Komodo Library in Labuan Bajo; and to your cash + book donations which have allowed us to start a new collection in Yenbuba Village in Raja Ampat.

I would also like to thank Atlas Pearls who continue to offer logistical support which allows us to get these books into schools in remote reaches of Indonesia.

Several months ago I noticed the number of donated books growing and I wondered if we might be able to reach 3000 books in 3 years.  And we did!  As this, our third anniversary rolls around we have been able to distribute 3150 books across 7 different projects in Indonesia and now Tonga.

Thank you all, so much, for your dedicated support to this project.  Without you none of it would have happened.  The difference you have been able to make in isolated areas with limited resources is quite remarkable.

I don’t know what 2019 has in store for us, but onwards we go!

If you would like to talk about how you can help, please get in touch!  If you would like to make a donation you can do so HERE
